Lower and Upper Sunshine Coast Métis citizens made up half the panelists at the Symposium on the 50th Anniversary of John Coulter’s play The Trial of Louis Riel in Regina on Saturday. Before heading home, the travellers gathered outside the Doubletree Hilton where the symposium was held. BE IT RESOLVED AS A SPECIAL RESOLUTION: That the Vancouver Metis Citizens Society:

  • Hereby adopts and ratifies as a Constitution Alteration a change of its name to United Canadian Métis Nation.
  • Upon this Special Resolution being passed at the Annual General Meeting of July 23, 2017, or any adjournment thereof, the Constitution Alteration Application to Change the Name of the Society shall be filed with the British Columbia Registrar. The President is hereby authorized to make any changes or amendments to this Resolution and the Constitution Alteration Application as may be required by the Registrar; and to do such other acts and execute such other documents as may be required to give effect to the said Change of Name.
  • This Change of name to United Canadian Métis Nation shall take effect on the date on which the Constitution Alteration Application together with Name Request #: NR 9757740 is filed and accepted by the Registrar.
  1. Special Resolution to Adopt New Bylaws of the Society:

WHEREAS: Vancouver Metis Citizens Society (Society) wishes to alter its Bylaws in order to

consolidate its existing Bylaws in accordance with the requirements set forth in the new Societies Act of British Columbia that came into effect November 16, 2015.

BE IT RESOLVED AS A SPECIAL RESOLUTION: That the Vancouver Métis Citizens Society:

  • Hereby adopts and ratifies the July 2017 Consolidated Alteration Bylaws of the Vancouver Metis Citizens Society that consolidates the Society’s May 2015 Bylaws in accordance with the requirements set forth in the new Societies Act of British Columbia that came into effect November 16, 2015
  • Hereby adopts and ratifies the July 2017 Consolidated Alteration Bylaws of the United Canadian Métis Nation that consolidates the Society’s May 2015 Bylaws in accordance with the requirements of the new Societies Act of British Columbia under the Change of Name of the Society to United Canadian Métis Nation.
  • Upon this Special Resolution being passed at the Annual General Meeting of the Society on July 23, 2017, or any adjournment thereof, the Consolidated Alteration Bylaws of the United Canadian Métis Nation shall be filed with the British Columbia Registrar. The President is hereby authorized to make any changes or amendments to this Resolution and the Consolidated Alteration Bylaws as may be required by the Registrar; and to do such other acts and execute such other documents as may be required to give effect to the said Consolidated Alteration Bylaws.
  • The July 2017 Amended Bylaws of the Society shall take effect on the date on which it is filed and accepted by the Registrar.
